85,000 children under five may have been starved to death in Yemen since Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates started bombing them with US and European weapons.
The assault on Yemen has unleashed the world’s most urgent humanitarian crisis with millions on the verge of starvation. For every child killed by bombs and bullets, dozens are dying from hunger and disease caused by the destruction, and it’s entirely preventable.
Aid groups say that 84,700 is a conservative estimate of children who were starved to death based on U.N. data between April 2015 and October 2018, when the US and European backed Saudi/UAE forces began to bomb Yemen. According to the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED), a database that tracks violence in Yemen, around 57,000 people have been reported killed since the beginning of 2016.
Half the population, or some 14 million people, are on the brink of famine and completely reliant on humanitarian aid.
