US Arrests Journalist Marzieh Hashemi After Landing at St Louis International Airport

An American journalist, Marzieh Hashemi, working for Press TV in Iran has been arrested by US authorities on unspecified charges after landing at St. Louis international airport.

She was arrested on Sunday and transferred by the FBI to a detention facility in Washington, DC. Local jails in Washington that hold federal inmates said they did not have her in custody.

“Her relatives were unable to contact her, and she was allowed to contact her daughter only two days after her arrest,” Press TV reported.

Hashemi was in the United States to visit family. She said she was prevented from observing her Islamic faith and wearing her headscarf and wasn’t offered halal food while she has been in custody.
