Brazil: Dam Collapse, Hundreds Missing

Hundreds of people are missing and likely dead after dam at an iron ore mine collapsed.

The dam, operated by the mining firm Vale, failed in Minas Gerais, Brazil and released a wave of red mining waste and caused widespread contamination.

More than 100 people had been rescued from the sea of mud and mining waste released by the dam. Firefighters have recovered at least 10 bodies.

Vale released a list of 412 employees and contractors who were missing. The fire department estimated 300-350 people were missing. Among the missing are at least 100 mine workers who were having lunch at the time of the collapse.
