Demonstrators gathered at a central square in Belgrade and marched toward the headquarters of Serbia’s state television in protest of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s control over state media. Protesters continue to demand fair elections and media freedom as a precondition for free elections.
Protesters have so far refused to organize under the leadership of any political bloc. Some organizers agreed last week to what they are describing as a “contract” with opposition politicians in order to pursue legislative reforms.
Opposition leaders last week launched a boycott of national and local legislatures to show support for protesters. Many protesters mistrust the opposition, saying they have done little to fight against corruption and poverty in Serbia.
