Yellow Vests Protest for the 16th Consecutive Week

More than 40,000 demonstrated across France with more than 4,000 in Paris, for the 16th consecutive Saturday.

Protesters marched peacefully on Saturday only to be tear gassed and have high powered hoses turned on them by police in Bordeaux and Paris.

In Paris, demonstrators marched from the Arc de Triomphe to Place Denfert-Rochereau on the residential left bank. Large parts of Paris were in lockdown as thousands of police cordoned off areas around the presidential palace and government buildings.

Demonstrations began 16 Saturday’s ago, sparked by a tax hike on fuel and grew into a large popular movement to call for radical changes to the government and the Macron administration to be removed from office.
