A series of eight bombings in Sri Lanka, targeting Christian churches and hotels in three cities, has killed more than 200 people and wounded up to 450 others on Easter Sunday.
At 8:45 a.m. on Sunday, bombs went off at three churches, one in the capital of Colombo, and two other cities, Negombo and Batticaloa. Four hotels in Colombo were also attacked and there was another explosion at a housing complex.
The government in Sri Lanka has blocked social media services following the bombings.
A government spokesperson said seven suspects have been apprehended and that it appears the attacks were carried out by suicide bombers.
