China to Build a Research Station on the Moon in the Next Decade

China’s National Space Administration is planning a manned mission to the moon and planning to build a research station there within the next 10 years, the official Xinhua news agency reported.

The plans are to build a research station on the south pole of the moon in the next decade, the head of China’s National Space Administration, Zhang Kejian, said during a “Space Day” speech. He added that Beijing plans to launch a Mars probe next year and confirmed that a fourth probe to the moon will be launched by the end of this year.

China’s National Space Administration also announced an asteroid exploration mission and invited collaborators to place experiments onboard.
