Over the last two years, the US has had 15% more days with unhealthy air than there were on average from 2013 through 2016. In those four years, the US had the fewest number of polluted days since 1980.
There were more polluted air days each year in president Trump’s first two years in office than any of the four years before, according to EPA data analyzed by The Associated Press.
When looking at fine particulate matter pollution, the World Health Organization data says the US ranks tenth in the world, well below several countries, including Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
