The governments in Germany and the Netherlands have agreed to come together and build a joint military internet network called Tactical Edge Networking or TEN.
TEN will merge communications between the German military’s land-based operations and the Dutch military’s tactical communications program.
This is the first time two governments have merged parts of their military networks. The project is viewed as a move toward connecting NATO countries’ military networks and the beginning of a new European military.
Government officials from Germany and the Netherlands signed an agreement on Wednesday in Brussels to build the first-ever joint military internet. The two countries initially agreed to build the joint network in May of last year.
