ICE to Begin Immigration Raids Across the Country Sunday

This Sunday, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) plans to begin immigration raids across the country to arrest thousands of people, according to US government officials.

President Trump has been repeatedly terrorizing the immigrant community by tweeting threats about impending mass raids. The mass raids will come weeks after Trump tweeted ICE’s plans to conduct raids, and then delayed them.

The ICE raids are expected to take place in at least 10 cities, including Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York and San Francisco. More than 2,000 undocumented immigrants are being targeted.

The New York Times reported the raids will be occurring “over multiple days” and ICE is planning on “collateral” deportations where “authorities might detain immigrants who happened to be on the scene, even though they were not targets of the raids.”

Groups have put together strategies and resources for undocumented immigrants, such as best practices for interacting with ICE and How to Prepare Yourself for an Immigration Raid.
